EPA Recommends Specifying Resilient Flooring with FloorScore & NSF 332

(LaGrange, GA – January 18, 2017) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released its Recommendations of Specifications, Standards and Ecolabels for Federal Purchasing, and included FloorScore® and NSF/ANSI 332 on the list of recommended sustainable certifications for resilient flooring.  These guidelines are intended to help federal purchasers identify and procure environmentally sustainable products and services FloorScore®, which is administered by SCS Global Services and the Resilient Floor Covering Institute, tests and certifies hard surface flooring for compliance with indoor air quality emission requirements.  The NSF/ANSI 332 Sustainability Assessment Standard for Resilient Flooring is a multi-attribute, third-party certification that evaluates criteria across the product’s life cycle, from raw material extraction […]

California Agency Issues Safe Use Determination under Prop 65 for Vinyl Flooring Containing DINP Plasticizer

July 6, 2016 – LaGrange, GA – The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has issued a Safe Use Determination (SUD) under Prop 65 for diisononyl phthalate (DINP) exposures to building residents and occupants from vinyl flooring products containing 18.9% DINP by weight or less. The finding is based on OEHHA’s determination that exposure of building residents and occupants to DINP from these vinyl flooring products does not exceed the DINP “safe harbor level” for protecting health. Metroflor Celebrates Grand Opening Innovation & Design Center

CALHOUN, GEORGIA, July 28th — Halstead International and Metroflor Corp. in Calhoun, Georgia, received the prestigious GREEN GLOBES® Certification for its Innovation & Design Center. To celebrate, the company held a grand opening celebration for the facility the third in Georgia and the first in Calhoun to have earned that distinction. Certification Program for Indoor Air Quality

BREEAM, one of the world’s foremost environmental assessment programs for buildings, has cited FloorScore® certified flooring products as eligible for credits under BREEAM’s indoor air quality requirements. FloorScore, a voluntary, independent certification program, tests vinyl (including LVT and VCT), linoleum, laminate, wood, ceramic and rubber flooring and certifies that they meet the emissions requirements of California Section 01350.

The FloorScore program is administered by the Resilient Floor Covering Institute, a nonprofit industry organization representing more than 95% of resilient flooring marketed in North America. GBI Launches New Version of Green Globes® Building Certification Program Based on an ANSI Standard

The Green Building Initiative today announced the release of the most significant update to the Green Globes for New Construction (NC) program since it first became available in the U.S. in 2006. Green Globes is a web-based program for green building guidance and certification that includes an on-site assessment by a certified third party sustainability expert. The new release is based on the ANSI/GBI 01-2010: Green Building Assessment Protocol for Commercial Buildings.
